KALANCHOE DAIGREMONTIANA

There are many treatments for psoriasis, but all of them have mild to severe side effects, and different periods of remission. Currently, there is no effective preparation on the market, which would be highly effective and without side effects harmful to health.
The multicentre, placebo-controlled results of a medical experiment on a group of 173 patients with plaque psoriasis indicate not only
for very good and good clinical results after topical application of the tested preparation, similar to the effects of medium-strength steroid preparations and not found
after ordinary emollients, but also due to its very good local tolerance with no side effects. Effects in the form of erythema reduction, reduction of the thickness of the psoriatic plaque and desquamation of the plaque surface (60-80% clinical improvement in the L-PASI assessment) appeared fairly quickly in some cases
(after 2-6 weeks). According to the statistical report, there were also patients who experienced an improvement of at least 50% more often (L-PASI-50). In the group of patients using the active L-PASI-50 preparation it was recorded in 73.4% of patients, while in the placebo group this percentage was 13.4% and the significance level of these differences was p <0.001. The observed improvement was not dependent on the time of the last L-PASI measurement (Pearson's correlation coefficient equal to 0.03), which proves that the preparation works quickly in some patients.
and this improvement becomes permanent over time (good responder). It is very important that the results
these were confirmed in the multivariate analysis (the beneficial effect of the preparation was independent of the patient's sex and age).
In addition, apparatus tests have confirmed that regular use of Kalanchoe daigremontiana cream does not affect the natural pH of the skin, does not cause irritation, moisturizes and strengthens the skin's hydrolipid barrier. Based on the above studies, it was also found that the cream containing the active substance under study:
  • accelerates regeneration and strengthens the skin's hydro-lipid barrier,
  • soothes itching after the first application,
  • effectively soothes irritation and inflammation
  • eliminates the symptoms of roughness, exfoliation (normalizes the proliferation of keratinocytes) and the feeling of tightness and burning of the skin,
  • nourishes, oils, smoothes and softens the skin,
  • does not disturb the natural pH of the skin,
  • supports protection against the effects of certain external factors (dry / hot air, detergents),
  • prevents the formation of new psoriasis outbreaks.
The cream containing Kalanchoe daigremontiana extract was well tolerated by patients. The formulation of the cream without dyes and fragrances was adapted to the needs of allergic skin, therefore, on the basis of the conducted tests, no symptoms were found that would indicate an allergic or toxic-irritating effect of the tested cream on human skin.
The above-described beneficial properties of the test product in psoriasis are undoubtedly influenced by the keratinocyte proliferation inhibitory properties. In the course of psoriasis, excessive and accelerated proliferation (multiplication) of epidermal cells, abnormal keratinization and an inflammatory reaction developing in the skin are observed. During studies on cultured human epidermal keratinocytes, the tested active substance showed an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of these cells.
The cream containing Kalanchoe daigremontiana extract in the prevention and treatment of psoriasis is important in reducing itching of the skin, normalizing excessive keratinization, and regenerating psoriasis. In my opinion, the tested preparation can be an excellent complement to the treatment of various forms of plaque psoriasis, both in adults and in children, and as an alternative to topical steroid drugs.
